Most of the time, I don't know where a "painting" is going until well into it. This piece was no different, until finished, when I realized I put the signs on the wrong side, and the monster couldn't see them. It probably wouldn't have cared anyway.
I don't think it matters to the faceless monster... the faceless crowd?... which way the signs are facing. There's a futility in the failure to communicate that is expressed in the exhausted painter woman. But then I go on and on. Great lighting and wonderfully open to interpretation.
I thought of King Kong too, only the gentleness of him and the love he had for the woman. When I look at this painting I see much of the same gentleness, and a slight urgency for him to rescue her from her fall. I'm so glad she wasn't impaled on one of the points of the signs. Perhaps then I might have suspected him. I loved your comment on my "Wallflower 4." Now I look at her differently :)
this is great! i see it as the exasperated painter lady has given up i'm rooting for her to get up and keep trying. WAKE UP LADY, TURN THE SIGNS AROUND!
looks like 1 way exhaustion has set in for the painter. i guess there is only one way and everybody gets to chose which way that is..... but is it the right way? lov the work on the hand and u lil flower pot, not to mention the the routed out look of the letters.
I'm betting on the painter- even though it doesn't look so good for her-- monsters seem to have always lost in the end- unless they're not really monsters. (What is that light bulb a symbol of? Could be a lot.) Flowers for hope, peace, and for congradulations. This is the way to paint! Another favorite! I love when "I don't know where a "painting' is going until well into it"- sometimes I don't know even after finished.
Love it!! What a feast for the eyes. There is a sense of exhaustion, even anxiety conveyed here. I like how not everything is spoon fed, concept-wise. Seeing your work makes me want to touch it.

There are plenty of them and evil monsters see backwards anyway! Lovely manicured nails though! I like the pot of flowers better :)
