momentum

Shopping at my favorite neighborhood grocery store, a
while back, I managed to trip over my own feet, (don't
know exactly how I did that, but I did that).
So since I had my hands on the shopping cart handle at
the time, I held tight hoping the cart would keep me up-
right. Unfortunately the cart started moving, slowly at
first, but then faster and faster as I struggled even harder
to regain my footing. So imagine a person riding a bike,
but holding onto a shopping cart handle instead, moving
down a grocery aisle, really fast.
So anyway,
I finally ended up just outside the aisle, on my knees. A nice,
lady with her little girl, the little girl had a miniature shopping cart,
(which I bumped into) were standing there. The young mother
asked if I was okay, and I said yes. and the little girl just stared
The End

Isn't it nice when we provide entertainment for others? :)

Ha ha! This is an instant classic. Now see Miri, if this unfortunate event had never happened, you wouldn't have come up with probably one of your best works (and a hilarious story to boot) yet!

Wow, I actually laughed out loud...not just a mental smirk but a real out loud cackle! A rare event.

This is just wonderful. I love your style! It looks like so much like tempera...is it really digital? Fantastic!

Thanks for that; it would be interesting to hear it from the girl.

Lovely work. I laughed aloud reading your story - sounds like something that could have happened to me (I'm always startled to discover I haven't tripped over anything other than my own feet!).

Oh God Miri, we're having such hard times here (with scary new neighbors)that I was whispering in my own house. We live in a duplex and a single mom moved in with her druggie teenager and it has been a nightmare scene. Anyway, I haven't laughed in days and then I came here and you you've given me just what I needed. Laughter, pure and simple. I'll look at your post again in the morning so I can start my day with something fantastically hilarious and then I'll know everything will be okay. All I have to do is picture this supermarket scene and smile, not at you Miri, but with you. Oh, and I just LOVE the expression of the woman on the right saying, "Oh God....I've been there! You poor woman." This is great!

Isn't it funny how everyone laughs at the NOT funny! You look terrified, embarrassed and flustered all in one wonderful but tragic painting :) Not to mention keeping momentum with all previous delights

I've been a long-time advocate of brakes on those cart handles, and this is a great example of why.

I like a good read, and I like the expression on your/the shopper's face as she retains her dignity and composure.

Great hair.

LOVE the expressions on the faces ROFL! Well rendered moment Hardwax. You might find comfort in my recent supermarket moment, where I was nearly knocked off my feet by a little old lady reversing at speed in her scooter - those things should have that 'beep beep beep' when they reverse!

Awesome, as usual!

LOL!! sorry. Glad all unharmed- and that this beauty is a result! Perfect expressions- and as always the design and colors and textures-- and all the parts together! At least your kids weren't there- I remember the grocery store was my mother's favorite place to embarrass me- she thought it was so funny when she'd start singing to whatever was playing as she pushed the cart down the aisle- so that I'd run and pretend I wasn't with her. It was kinda funny.
