Very moving illo, Miri. This really is the season to think of those less fortunate than us, but we should be doing that every day. I can tell you're the type of person who does :)
Thanks for the nice comments on my blog. I always seem to do animals because they're such a huge part of my life. And I love coming up with short little stories to go with the illo :)
This is heartbreaking, even though it is at first so magical. I can only hope that it the world of created imagery, this is a story that ends well. I love the tinsel effect you've created and the glow from the tree. Have a happy holiday:>
I love this, it's so real and true and cuts beneath a lot of the superficial crap we're fed around this time of year, forgetting that for a lot of people, christmas is incredibly stressful and alienating. Powerful work.
Hope this isn't a double-posted comment... that beta-blogger thing got me after I'd written my comment and tried to send... Anyway, I said something like... This beautiful piece contains the true meaning of the message of the Season... that we should be giving (help, aid, love) to those around us. The lighting here is magical. You can almost see the snow blowing in the breeze. I also mentioned that my daughter's high school drama team is presenting a play about stories of the homeless in our area: "The Sky is My Roof."
hey there, popped by to say thanks a lot for your kind words, and got myself a surprised smile to see that you too had already thought of the same kind of theme. really like your illo, and the message...

Love your drawing very sweet with the tree and the bright star, and then you see the poor man slepping on the bench. Very catching!

This is my pick for the week.
I like the juxtaposition of magical lighting -golden, in fact- with the homeless, solitary human shivering in its glow.
Wow! yep, wow.
I can't believe I missed this one. Very emotional. And, I like the progression that follows.
Great work.
